Great news for the lazy environmentalist, or just the lazy homeowner with a yard. The Swedish company, Husqvarna, has introduced a solar hybrid Automower, a battery-operated and self-charging lawnmower, that mows your lawn while you…don’t mow your lawn. Yes, we have electric push mowers and manual push mowers, but those require work. So, simply program the Automower with the times you want it to start and stop, then a wire installed around your yard lets this gadget know where to cut, and guides it back to its dock when it needs recharging.
It can operate day, night, rain and wind…doesn’t matter. It’s quiet (more than 25% quieter than your conventional mower) so it will never be a disturbance.
And most importantly, it’s as green as the grass it cuts. The Automower doesn’t use gas or oil, giving off zero emissions. The solar hybrid model uses even less energy, as it can stay charged for longer periods of time without docking. Plus…because the 
Automower cuts so often, the short blades of grass that are chopped off will quickly decompose, instead of longer blades of grass from cutting once a week, that end up clumping and sitting on the lawn, sheltering the lawn from oxygen and nutrients. The short blades of grass left by the Automower will be virtually invisible, and even better, they provide a natural lawn fertilizer. This will keep harmful chemicals and fertilizers out of your soil.
Although I haven’t seen this device in use, it looks to be a legitimate lawnmower (for an acre or less). It stays on top of the lawnmowing chore, resulting in quick, easy cuts, and no bogging. It is eco-friendly and it is able to cut on days that you are traditionally unable to. If you are consumed by work, helping your kids with homework, or by beating Zelda on the N64 for the 37th time, this mower may be for you.
