It’s been a couple of months since our last Green Crawler update, so here is what we have been working on. Last time, we introduced the key to our new website…our data feed process with Google Base specifications.
We are currently testing this product submission process with a handful of “green” merchants and their data feeds. We are striving to get a few more merchants to assist us in our testing, by submitting their Google Base data feeds (CSV, tab-delimited or XML). We will then list these merchants’ products on Green Crawler for the upcoming launch, providing a unique product marketing opportunity for this handful of merchants. If you are a merchant that sells “green” products and your company is listed on Google Base, you can submit your data feed to info@greencrawler.com. If your company is not listed on Google Base, you can create a Google Base data feed, and have the benefit of submitting to the web’s largest database, as well as a database that is specifically designed for your industry and receives shoppers that are specifically buying green.
While we’re testing, we are also revamping our development website with several projects, such as adding a “merchant area,” updating the look of our search results, and as you can see, working on the look and features of our Blog, The Green Bin. The “merchant area” will be the big addition to the new Green Crawler (aside from the new look), since it will be the area in which new and existing merchants can login or register, upload their data feeds, and edit and review their products.
The search results will have a completely new look, including a very big addition…product images. This will help shoppers get a visual idea of the product they are about to click on, adding much more to the Green Crawler shopping experience.
These are just a few of the additions to the new and improved Green Crawler website. We are always accepting feedback, suggestions, Blog topics, etc. You name it, we want to hear it. Green Crawler is now on Twitter, so be sure to follow us. We will feature brief news about GC, updates on the actual launch date, and notifications when new Blogs are posted.
